Lazy Days Recordings' re-imagination of 'Love, Care, Kindness with Dubs, Alternate takes and remixes' is as mesmerising as the original.

At a time when we're all raving about Clive From Accounts, remembering the remix of  Fred Everything's 'Soul Love feat. Stereo MC’s (see review HERE and Clive From Accounts' YATM interview HERE) here's the 'extra' album to follow 'Love, Care, Kindness' original that came out last May (see review HERE)

Packed with the great and the good, from the Atjazz Galaxy Aart Remix of 'Asolee', different mix of 'Never' featuring Robert Owens (that's already had the remix treatment by Osunlade and Waajeed, see review HERE) and our favourite James Alexander Bright, a Lazy Dub of 'Breather' (don't forget the orginal, see review HERE and the Rocco Rodamaal Remixes, see review HERE).

So even the keenest of fans might be wondered what else is there in this album? Well, there's the instrumental of 'Hope Is On The Horizon' that can then focus on flute and the funky keys, a proper dub of 'A Long Coming' and a new arrangement of 'Evening Ghost' made at the MUTEK festival in Montreal by Fred.

And talking flute gang, 'Broken Flute Thing' is a brand new previously unreleased track and the instrumental version of 'A Long Time Coming' of previously used as an backing track for an interview with Dom Servini's Jazztronics show on Jazz FM (see below)

If you've got the original album, the new of these 'companion' version is a no brainer to follow it up and get this, if you've not got it, if you start with this one, you want be disappointed and it stands as a great album on its out merits.

When there's an Atjazz vs. Osunlade "battle" on the remix, two/four for Atjazz one/two for Osunlade there no losers here as they confound listeners as they are just so consistently excellent.

You'll recall it's been just over a year since the original single of 'Let Me Go' (see review HERE - that turning into a Colour & Pitch Sessions mix favourite), which followed the earlier single, the collaboration with Jordan Arts on 'Home (see review HERE) and then the album, ' Bruno & The Birds (see review HERE)

One of the issues is that Atjazz has two remixes (and the instrumental versions) of his "Galaxy Aart" and "Astro" imprints whilst Osunlade goes with his trusted "Yoruba Soul" verson.  And just to compound the thought process, the original is included that features Kuniyuki Takahashi (piano) and Sio deamy vocals

It's quite balmy as the vocal versions remind you how good the original is whilst the instrumental remixes remind you why Atjazz and Osunlade are THE go to remixers for Afro-house beats; particularly the Astro and Yoruba Soul remixes and the instrumentals with some space synth goodness.

The album came out last November and that's definitely worth checking back on with these remixes.

The next cab of the Melbourne musical rank of excellence is Audrey Powne and the fires are being fed with this single that brings the heat.

Ozzie heat in the case is not Damon Heta or the Australian Open but multi-instrumentalist Audrey with her composition and title track of the forthcoming album, 'Feed the Fire' that's a soul-jazz reflection on the bushfires that have plagued her homeland of late and the resistance of the powers that be to associate the problem with the climate crisis.

She's caught the ear of the likes of Gilles Peterson and Masta Ace in the past and BBE haven't been slow to spot the potential: and just to make sure she gets even more attention, the ever present master remix veteran Atjazz and NYC's musclecars have jumped at the chance for some mega remixers.

We're always in awe of the dancefloor skill of Atjazz (in this case, a set of remix, instrumental and the monster "Deeper" remix with instrumental) but last year you'll recall Jazzanova's 'Beyond The Dream' got a "remingination" by musclecars (see review HERE) which then got us excited about their work with Brandon Markell Holmes (see review HERE) and their single, 'Shelter (Building It, Still)'.

BBE don't let you down and if the album is as good as this single, we're in for a fantastic 2024; and just to set it up a bit more, the next single on the label is a musclecars' own single, 'Running Out Of Time' (what odds on a Audry Powne remix?)

The weekend starts here under the seachlight with a host of dancefloor wizards.

If you're keeping up with Fallen Tree 1Hundred, they really champion post-d'n'b modern soul UKG and Searchlight (aka Zero T and Beta 2) have picked three top producers/remixes to re-work tracks from their debut album.

Must say, the agility of the Atjazz remix on 'Can We Go Back' with nu-jazz bruk shuffle is more than stunning and worthy of any DJ set.

Talking BRUK, Afroforce (aka Mark Force and Orin Afronaut - did you see what they did there), re-live BITA on a deep 'Breath'

The opener 'We Could Be More' featuring [ K S R ] (soul singer from Manchester not a YouTuber) get another BRUK student, Lee Gomez (aka Wipe The Needle) that sounds even more BITA than the Bugz themselves: especially on the instrumental which sounds so good.

This definitely could be more, say if they all team up with label mates Natalie Duncan (see review HERE) or Degrees Of Freedom (see review HERE) for what would be one hell of a Gilles Peterson 'Worldwide' re-union.

As all fans of Atjazz know, there's never going to be a moment when a new release from him or Atjazz Record Company isn't going to be of the highest quality; so why should his latest collaboration with Shea Soul be any different?

No reason at all, equally as mesmorizing as the recent release on Atjazz's label by Mr OFFBeat (see review HERE) but here on Reel People Music it's got that throbbing soul sound that's perfectly captured by Shea Soul; I'll even forgive the "Na, Naa, Nana, Naa, Naaahs".

As origin, radio edit and instrumental versions it'll get you on the dancefloor in a end of summer last hurrah before you get safely home.

PS. Don't forget the label only just released this killer by Mothers Favorite Child and the legendary Robin S called 'Tonight' as remixed by Opolopo - see review HERE)

If you've recently discovered the music of singer/songwriter Deborah Jordan from her work with Marc Rapson (on 'I'll See You Again') and K15 plus new remixes by DJ Spinna and Kaidi Tatham, you'll no doubt be surprised that yesterday's release of her debut album, 'The Light' is the first time it's been on vinyl.

I remember that we were so excited after the 7" of 'Nothing Lasts' (prod. Jneiro Jarel) and 'Home' featuring Replife (prod. Marc Rapson & Soulpersona) for the then forthcoming CD  (this was 2009 after all).

Both these tracks are on the reissued album and they don't sound at all dated; particularly 'Home' and 'You Could Be'.   Indeed, all these tracks sound "2022" which is a testament to the love that Mr. Futurisica Music (aka DJ Simon S) put into this as there are tracks produced by Aardvark (appropriately titled, 'This Is The Future' where soul meets hip-hop meets space bruk), Simbad and the ever consistent and still as active as he was when this come out, Atjazz (check out BBE's MF Robots 'The Love It Takes' (Atjazz Remix) if you need any proof).

The mix with the underground soul, hip-hop beats community like Replife, Rise (now better known as Mecca:83) and Kamara was more than a surprise as Deborah was better known back then for being in Silhouette Brown and Robert Mitchell's avant guarde jazz goup Panacea, a relationship that continues to this day as Mitchell has just released his own "Monument" (Gilles Peterson) of a double album called 'The New Resistance' that features Deborah on many of the tracks.

We haven't got an Atjazz 2022 update on 'Let Go' which is great because it is perfect as it was/is along with 'Nothing Lasts', 'Breathe' and the timeless title track.

And now you've seen/heard 'The Light' you can also add vinyl version of her previous solo album 'See In The Dark' and the previously mentioned recent collaboration with K15, 'Human' - both available on Futuristica Music.
