Detrás Del Vitral is stuck in a Valentine frame of  mind and finds 'Unwritten Loves' as a Balearic anthem!

Review: Mentourad - Stray Cat (Be Adult Music)

This is one 'Stray Cat' that you need to own as Be Adult Music release a new EP by Mentourad.

You might have guessed from the cover artwork that the lead track, 'Stray Cat In Mumbai' fuses the Sitar dreams of Lennon in the 60s with some deep house that's boarders on the Balearics.

 

Backed with two other fine tracks, 'King Dance' and 'Morchang Man' (as we flip from ice cream van to traditional Indo-jews harp) this is organically so good, I might turn vegan, or go to Goa, Naple, Ibiza.

Definitely one for fans on Indo-jazz-fusions, Sohail Rana's 'Soul Sitar', Lord Sitar and all raja's inbetween - this cat ain't stray, but needs a home on the dancefloor.

Here's one for Boxing Day, Detrás Del Vitral shares 'Memories In Motion' from the always grown-up, Be Adult Music.

We thought Be Adult Music would be ending the year on the high of Julian Marazuela's 'Lights' with the Vincenzo Remix (see review HERE) but there's just enough time to squeeze in another as a treat for the festive season on Boxing Day.

Both tracks, 'Painful Choice' and 'Ripples Of Memory' are emotionally charged that's reflected in the cover artwork.

'Painful Choice' is like an elongated journey whilst 'Ripples Of Memory' go synth-house with lonesome piano which is loses itself until the vocals start.

Review: Julian Marazuela - Lights + Vincenzo Remix (Be Adult Music)

We love to be adult when it comes to a Vincenzo remix but in the case of Julian Marazuela's 'Lights', we're like rabbits caught in the glare of headlights,

Vincenzo's remix is deep and dreamy as we've grown to expect; also Sumsuch/Will Brock 'Free Born Man' (see review HERE) and his own 'Extrasolar' (see review HERE) - is there a light source theme going on here?

But there's two other versions, 'It's Time To Close' and a 'Solstice' mix and both are mezmerising.

This is strangely Xmas/winter solstice/Balearic so it'll be more than interesting to see what version makes the December Colour & Pitch mix so stay tuned.

We're still in love with David Manso's 'Like An Oven' with Kanedo and Deephope Remixes (see review HERE) and here's some more goodness.

This 3 track EP is as deep and spellbinding as the artwork - infact, they should have called it 'Âme' / 'Mariana' / 'Japa Mala' as they all stand-out and a perfect follow up to Gasperini's  'Hijos Del Sol' release (see review HERE).

There's some great Balearic-styles about at the moment so stay tuned.

Review: David Manso - Like An Oven (+ Kanedo & Deephope Remix) (Be Adult Music)

Sexual healing is on the cards like a overheated oven on some jazzy deep house as David Manso echoes the classic track on 'Like An Oven'.

So I was talking to Robert Luis (Tru-Thoughts Recordings - see review HERE) and he happened to mention that one of their most popular tracks in the cover version of 'Sexual Healing' and they've been releasing quality music for 25 years!

This isn't a cover version as such but there's some deep soul going on here and the remix by Kanedo and Deephope work it out with a groove in on the floodplains that stretches to the wilderness.

Guaranteed to be featured on the Colour & Pitch sessions you'd have thought as this is big in the YATM office.

Review: Erdi Irmak - Roshomon / The Sun (Be Adult Music)

Hot after their 8th Birthday Party, Be Adult Music is growing up fast with Erdi Irmak's 'Roshomon' EP with remixes by Serious Dancers and MRSFLV.

In fact, Erdi's track 'Easy Now' was undated for the 8th Anniversary compilation (see review HERE) but there's original of 'Roshomon' (with MRSFLV remix) and 'The Sun' (with Serious Dancers remix).

But can these Serious Dancers be serious and both versions are as kaleidoscopic as the artwork and dancefloor heat guaranteed.

We know MRSFLV from 'Beatiful Others' (see review HERE) and the sounds of the Far East get speeded up for this beautiful 'I Can't Stand The Rain' temple of a track.

What a month it has been for BAM fans, as it started with  Midnight Workouts' 'Losing Me' (original with remixes Nikos Diamantopoulos, Mauro B, St.Ego) (see review HERE) and ending with this one.

'The Sun' is definitely shining on these guys.

Review: Various Artists - Be Adult Music 8th Anniversary (Be Adult Music)

It doesn't seem like a year since we were celebrating Be Adult Music 7th Anniversary but here's another compilation of all the best in a Be Adult Music world. 

In truth, it's been a little over a year since (see review HERE) but they've treated us to many a great release in the meantime that's emanated from the Ibizan beaches.

Typical of this is the dreamy opened, Hovak's 'The Day Before' and the ever present St. Ego (here with 'Stay') Also check out his Midnight Workouts remix of 'Losing Me', see review HERE) as the exclusive David Ol remix fits in so well here. 

 

Can't say I know the work of T.Picker, Erdi Imak, Viel and Death On The Balcony (their track, 'Follow The Beat' is a bit of a beachside Carrib steel pan-gospel grower) but it all has that Be Adult dancefloor quality.

Back to another artist we know, Julian Marazuela from the recent 'Seven Islands' release (see review HERE), and talking of the seaside, 'Atlantic Creatures' is a glorious multi-house genre firework of a track that wraps up this collection.

No surprise that there's much of a Balearics Island heat to all this and it's definitely one you should pack for your summer hols with the tan lotion and flip flops.

Review: Midnight Workouts - Losing Me (Be Adult Music)

Time to get fit with Be Adult Music's latest, Midnight Workouts as they are 'Losing Me'.

We've been sailing around this islands with Julian Marazuela's 'Seven Islands' (see review HERE) so it's now time to get excited with 4 different versions of this track that features the the vocals of Eva Essa.

The original is typically dreamy and you've got a choice of three variations with remixes by Nikos Diamantopoulos (another sailing style in the sun), Mauro B (it's a clever one this), and the ever reliably outstanding St Ego.

This might be 3 track, but Julian Marazuela's 'Seven Islands' is the lucky number for Be Adult Music's latest release to prepare us for a summer in the Balearics (other idealic island archipelago locations are available).

For those looking to enjoy carefree summer sounds, this EP of 'Lights', 'Carnaval' and the title track will transport you to a world of cooling breeze and sandy feet: plus, its flute gang friendly.

It's been almost exactly a year since his debut release on Be Adult Music, 'The Traveller' and works great next to their last release, David Ol's 'I Need Your Love' (see review HERE).

Review: David Ol - I Need Your Love (Be Adult Music)

Did you really think Be Adult Music's release following Baron Ashler's 'The End Of Pangea' would be just as good? Well, it is and you'll love it!

You may have spotted David with a couple of tracks on their sister label, Be Adult Weapons, but this is he first 2-track EP release.  

Both tracks are dreamy rollers; 'I Need Your Love' and 'Thinking About' are quite dubby.

The artwork deserves a 12" sleeve and don't  forget to get 'The End Of Pangea' (see review HERE) which is a great companion release too.

Review: Baron Ashler - The End Of Pangea (Be Adult Music)

One man's 'The End Of Pangea' is another man's dancefloor 3 track EP for the summer!

We thought the release by Be Adult Music of MiraculuM's 'Discoverse' was a great addition to the dancefloor (Ed. And it still is - see review HERE), but Baron Ashler will make a global name for himself with this 3 track EP: 'Pangea', 'Laurasia' and 'Gondwana'.

This is the Baron's world tour to house-up the Ibiza chill beach and synthwaves (particularly on 'Gondwana' with a touch of the operatic vocals), some dreamy Indo-Middle Eastern-Balerics on 'Laurasia' as a wanders down from the church of the Himalayas but for the whole effect, 'Pangea' is my current favourite.

The artwork is equally mesmeric and deserves to be on a 12" sleeve at least - 'organic' is much misused term, but in this case, there is a real growth of a new good; grown up music if you like.

Welcome to the Discoverse! We may be still looking for the perfect beat, but Be Adult Music have found some deep house perfection with MiraculuM in a 3 track EP.

We got some dreamy Arabian sun from the 'Nebulounge, some main room sun from 'The Bless & The Curse' and some sexy sun from the 'Midnight Muse'.

Review: Jenia Vice - Skyfall (Inc. Kanedo Remix) (Be Adult Music)

Be Adult Music welcomes Jenia Vice's first single, the atmospheric 'Skyfall'.

On the back of the recent Total Eclipse, we can still look to the heavens and be impressed with the typically Baleraic groove of 'Skyfall' - nothing to do with 007.

Review: Florian Gasperini - Hijos Del Sol (Be Adult Music)

When they say, every picture tells a story, the cover artwork to 'Hijos Del Sol' is obviously the new dawning for the children of the sun that follow Florian Gasperini.

The dawn chorus awakening of  'Hijos Del Sol' will get you ready for any festival dancefloor that certainly has a similar piano vibe to Kiko Navarro & Hugo Navarro's 'Una Mattina' that's just out on Afroterraneo (see review HERE).

But that's not all as there's two more tracks, 'That's Who I Am' and 'Mystical Morning' - I think you get the idea 

.After 20 plus years as a DJ/Producer, this is Florian's debut on Be Adult Music and it's definitely been worth the wait and not the last.

Review: Prosis - Inner Thoughts (Be Adult Roots / Be Adult Music)

Spring has sprung at Be Adult HQ as their sub-label hits us with the percussive flower that is 'Inner Thoughts' by Prosis.

This time last year we were celebrating Be Adult Music's '7 Anniversary' compilation release (see review HERE) and now, out of Athens, Greece, deep house meets Afro-house with two tracks, 'Inner Thoughts' and the saxy 'U Know I Really Love You'.

This release quickly follows-on from the equally impressive Pango remix of Hosse's 'Never Stop Playing' featuring Katie Knight (and instrumental): At this rate they'll soon be an anniversary 'Best Of' Be Adult Roots compilation next year.

I do love the William Morris-esque artwork.

Review: Sumsuch & Will Brock - Free Born Man (with Vincenzo Remix) (Colour & Pitch)

Seems like we've been waiting a long time for the next installment of the Sumsuch & Will Brock musical adventure but fear not, 'Free Born Man' (on Colour and Pitch) will be with us soon.

And if Sumsuch's love of "fascinating blends of deep floating house music" isn't enough, he's gone and got one of the current experts in the field, Vencenzo on the remix.

The original track is very much in their own classic style of 'There Comes A Time' as that one also has a dramatic floaty free that is the perfect vehicle for Mr. Brock's vocals and great use of uplifting bouncey synths. 

Equally essential is the reduced beach bar - piano lounge chillout house of Vincenzo's remix that fits in and at the same time, is a bit of a contrast to other recent releases like the influencial single last year on Be Adult Music, 'Extrasolar'/''The Witching Hour' - which came out at about the time of Sumsuch & Will Brock's last release, 'Don't Know Where I'm Going' (with Gavin Boyce Remix - see review HERE) that featured Kameelah Waheed who continues to keep cropping up and most surpristingly of Joseph Malik's new album on Ramrock Records (see review HERE).

Will Brock's fantastic vocals lift the soul of the track in both forms but just as mesmerising is the there's the two instrumental versions as a bonus.

This is a fantastic start to 2024 that also happens to be the 10th anniversary year of Colour & Pitch and long term readers of YATM will recall the Sumsuch/Brock opened the Colour & Pitch label's account back in 2015 with the now classic, Simpathico (see review HERE) and they've followed this up the equally essential 'All Along', 'Shine' and 'Humanity' plus remixes; perhaps there's a compilation album due?

Review: David Manso - Groovy Smile (Be Adult Music)

Don't be confused by the artwork as this isn't Acid, it's just a 'Groovy Smile' from Be Adult Music.

But it's more than a groovy smile cos there's a right groovy track behind it.  It's the first solo release by DJ David Manso, not to be confused with legend David Mancuso, even if there's a fair bit of Paradise Garage and funk influence on 'Reason To Smile' on a beach with the usual beach dreams of Be Adult Music.

The 'sister' track, 'Groovy W.' is even funkier and jazzy with a sax spurt that's 70s friendly; it's like a very cool remix of an unknown  Average White Band/Weather Report track.

This is a fantastic way to celebrate the label's 350th release and expect to hear this on all great parties this year and definitely one earmarked for this months' Colour & Pitch Mixtape.
