"Dreamy trip hoppers stay connected" as Fred Everything teams up with the much loved Stereo MC's on a 'Soul Love' train as remixed by Clive From Accounts and the Lazy Days crew have been far from lazy in sorting out these collection of remixes/mixes.

One of our top tracks this year (see review HERE) and having released our favourite remix by Rocco Rodamaal of 'Breathe' featuring James Alexander Bright (see review HERE), we're now on the last single from Fred Everything's recent album 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope' (see review HERE).

In the leftfield nu-disco dancefloor, Clive From Accounts (aka Richard Day) is one of the sort after names having released his own work on Dirt Crew, Outplay and the super hot Razor-N-Tape (just to prove how hot they are, check Tom Noble Presents... 'House Of Spirits' (see review HERE).  Clive From Accounts is also busy on the remixes and he's put his double entry booking credentials to the test on the dubby 'Soul Love' and goes into the deep house for a special hybrid (that's sort of reflected in the artwork).

Definitely aimed at the DJ world with an array of versions in additon to the remix, 'Clive From Accounts Dub', 'Lazy Vox', 'Lazy Dub', 'An Afterthought', 'Original', 'Edit', 'Instrumental', 'Beatless' - you'll be breathless after all these versions.  All that's missing is a Sumsuch vs. Hectic mix!

The 'Soul Love (Lazy Dub)' is particularly good and it'll be big with the flute gang and everyone else plus the re:envisoned 'Afterthought' mix but you keep going back to Clive From Accounts - not to be confused with Colin From Accounts; could all this accounting make CIPFA qualifications trendy?

We're definitely big fans of both Fred Everything and James Alexander Bright so we were super excited when they got together for 'Breathe', but who's Rocco Rodamaal?

Well, Rocco might not be the most prolific producer/remixer out there but he's definitely well connected with the likes of Atjazz, Osunlade and Afro-house communities.

That said, when he's come to one of the most popular tracks from Fred Everything's recent album 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope' (see review HERE), the colaboration with 'friend of YATM', James Alexander Bright (see review HERE), there's a big chilled approach that includes dub and beat versions.

Definitely aimed at the DJ world and you can't go wrong with any of these versions.

"Going the extra mile" is such an over used phrase these day, it often doesn't cover the first step; Compost Records ain't like that though as Yuu Udagawa's new single, 'Ride It' / 'The Peaceful Dawn' has a trio of remixes by three of our favourites on the know twiddles: JKriv, Fred Everything, Manuel Tur.

You can tell from the cover that this is special as Yuu's jazzy keys feel like an update of Herbie Hancock and Bugge Wesseltoft combined for clubland cool on both tracks

The incredible 'Set Me Sneakers' (think that might be missing a 'free' at the end) as it grooves for nearly eight minutes and the lead track, 'Ride It' with the remixes by JKriv and Fred Everything (fresh from his Lazy Days release of 'Never' with Robert Owens and Osunlade and Waajeed remixes (see review HERE).

'Ride It' certainly has that West Coast freeway about it with sexy dawn whispers that's just disco enough for JKriv (who we know from Detroit's Rocksteady Disco label with main man Peter Croce; but he's just as likely to turn up on Razor 'n' Tape, BBE or Defected) to give it more depth to groove too.

The Fred Everything mix take on the whispers and makes it more mainroom.

So what's this about Manuel Tur? Well, that's part 2 of this set with a track called 'The Peaceful Dawn' as Fred Everything's mate Mr Tur providing 2 remix variations; 'Octamix' and 'Deep Dub' for some big house.  That's not out until the 6th September but 'Ride It' will more than keep you entertained in the meantime.

Highlight of the summer so far!.

With everything in the current state of things, what we all need is some of Fred's 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope'.

We've already had a feel for Fred Everything's latest album with the increasingly hypnotic, 'Soul Love' featuring the Stereo MC's (see review HERE) on 'Breathe' featuring our local favourite, Alexander James Bright (see review HERE) and the classic sounds of Robert Owen on 'Never'.

And what's even better, Mr. Everything (aka Frédéric Blais) is just as good on the other seven tracks with just Sapele featuring on 'A Long Time Coming' and just as importantly, multi-instrumentalist (but particularly sax and flute) Finn Peters.

In fact, perhaps it's a little surprising that there are not more guest appearances as he's worked with and remixed so many since since debut album came out in 2000, 'Under The Sun' (which itself included the input of Atjazz).  It still sounds like a deep jazzy house that's layered into the grooves of 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope' along with Peters who was making waves in the original Bruk/jazzy house golden period himself.

Between them they can bring Montreal down to a Detroit boogie flute gang zone ('Hope Is On The Horizon'), move to the modern electronic shuffle of 'A Good Day' and bounce to a Mr. Scruff-style bounce (Evening Ghost).

There's something for everyone who likes a dance and a lazy day on here and I'll definitely be playing out these tracks this summer, especially the happy clap 'Moonrise'; soul love people!

"Dreamy trip hoppers stay connected" as Fred Everything teams up with the much loved Stereo MC's on a 'Soul Love' train.

We were ahead of the timetable with Fred's collab with James Alexander Bright on the last single 'Breathe' (see review HERE) and the album, 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope' is coming out next month.

So with 2 great singles, expectations are high; especially if Fred's collection of vintage keyboards are involved.

New versions of the track, including remixes by Clive From Accounts (he of 'Strictly Business EP' on Razor N Tape and some classy remixes), will be available later in 2024

Well, you might have thought you knew everything about Fred Everything you needed to know only to find out that he's 'All Is Well' too and 'A Break In Time' is just the musical album refresher we all need.

I was somewhat surprised to find out that, Fred Everyting (aka Frédéric Blais, DJ,producer and remixer for over 25 years from Quebec, Canada and best mates with Martin 'Atjazz' Iverson and many more on the cool side of deep house) was also known as just 'Everything' in his early career and was a big fan of all things ambient.  And it proved that lockdown was 'A Break In Time' that he used to re-address this area to affirm, 'All Is Well'.

Luckily, this album of ten tracks have found a home at Compost Records and it draws inspiration from all electronic and non-electronic ground breakers, Reich, Terry Riley, Eno (both of them), Tangerine Dream/Krautrock, System 7 and many more, even Carl Craig.

Thankfully, we're not drawn into 20 minute chill-out drones but beautiful pre-Balearic 'intros' as the titles allude to; 'Day One', 'Day Two', 'Tranquillity' and 'Risqué.  'Forever And A Year' is most Reich like but any of this tracks could get picked up for Film/TV/Advert as they are captivating.  The dreamy 'Towards' and 'Phillippe' are another two and it's easy to see why German electronic stars like Dixon and Âme are fans; getting back to Berlin-Canadian links, time for a Wagon Repair revival?

'Cosmic Winter' is the most 'upbeat of the set whilst 'At Well' starts a bit too 'Big Brother' for my liking but that's a small gripe as mostly it's warm and lush.

Apparently Fred has also been working under the moniker Incognito and teaming up with an old Beats In Space favorite, Lauer and Atjazz as a trio so lets hope we don't have to have another 'lockdown' period for the All Is Well follow up album.

P.S. And check out Will Sumsuch's interview on 5 Magazine HERE.
