Too early to be thinking about Spring? Not for Lucky Sun as he remixes Anna Ling's dreamy Devon  orginal called 'Butterfly'.

Remembering the last Lucky Sun release, 'Remember' / 'Warm Breeze' (see review HERE), Anna's sun drenched folky 'Butterfly' is ideal for some Lucky Sun (aka Tom Lown)  metamorphosis.

Not his trademark soulful deep house that has dominated the first 10 years of Lucky Sun Recordings (see below) but firstly as a low-slung jazzy-beats remix (think Bristol influences) and then as a Midnight Dub that'll keep us groovin' on the beach in the early hours.

Released at the time of the year when we're more tuned into wintery showers (Northern Hemisphere) than sunshine but watch out for them waves on the dub ready in some 2025 beachwear.

Lucky Sun Recordings are ready for the beach this August wit a bikini of a release for some hot times.

Hard to believe it's been nearly six months since the summer started with Lucky Sun's last release on his own label, 'Falling Fool' featuring Jaidene Veda (she review
HERE
) and you'll remember those remixes (see review HERE); Yse Saint Laur'Ant is still turning heads!

Up top, 'Remember' has lots of swirling synths with a deep, almost dub like bass that grooves gets all echoy around the shoreline caves which then 'explodes' with some 'soft' acid!

It's addictive and if you're used to warm-up sets or the main room it's one to have in your box.  And talking of warm, the bottom half of the release, so to speak, is a track called 'Warm Breeze' and it's heavy at the deep end with a jazz-lounge-italo-disc.o-synth fusion thing going on - more than a snappy tune I'd say.

Whether you have seaside memories with Lucky Sun (and Mr. Sumsuch - see review HERE), this is so good, I don't think a remix could improve it!

As we reach the end of February, the 1st of March finds a real contender for remix EP of the yeat as the Lucky Sun track 'Falling Fool' (featuring Jaidene Veda) gets deep remix by YSE Saint Laur'Ant, Formanteau, Kanedo and Joe Morris.

You may recall the original "Very sexy, very sunny and no foolin' that it's a summer hit" (see full review HERE) and here's a further 7 versions to immerse you in sexy, sun and falling fools.

We know Kanedo from the 'Deep Patterns' release on Be Adult Music with Lucky Sun and Sumsuch (see review HERE) and the remix really brings out the  "a modern day Tracey Thorn" in Jaidene Veda voice (and as featured on this months' Colour & Pitch Sessions mix).

Regular readers will know I like a dub version and the Joe Morris Sunrise mix is a set-up for the Joe Morris Sunset Dub and you'll be hearing this on a beach/bar/dancefloor/Café Del Mar all year long.

The two that are probably going to get the most attention are the YSE Saint Laur'Ant and Formanteau (both come with the instrumental versions).  Yse Saint Laur'Ant can dress me anytime with his glitchy slo-mo synth-disco (careful how you say 'Falling') and he's found the perfect C3po/Róisín Murphy/Herbert vibe.

YSE alt.ego Formanteau goes for the more obvious uptempo disco dancer that's got a false ending so prepare yourself.

Spoilt for choice for the Colour &  Pitch sessions this month?!?!.

The original album 'Balance' by Lucky Sun was mostly set on the Baleraic beach house under the palm trees.  A year on, what have the remixing experts given us as a transformation?

Well, it's very hard to make anything that features the vocals of Alison David into anything that isn't brilliant. So when you've got three tracks on the original album, there's more than a fair chance one them is the one going to be picked.

So 'Rain And Sunshine' getting two versions as a Sumsuch 2022 vs. Tim Haze's remixes.

I'm going for the one with more horn (that's Sumsuch to you and me) but I like the idea of even more horn and dub.  Whilst Tim's has super warm keys as if he's on the beach with Alison's groove - where's the instrumental version? [Ed. you're so greedy Hectic!]

And then Al Bradbury provides two different remixes of 'Calling You In'; Broken Acid vs 3am Deep House. The acid style remind me of the sophisticated BiggaBush acid wobble (also on the beach) whilst this lady is wide awake at 3am. And then there's 'Sunrise' (Jero Nogues Vocal Remix) and 'Deep Love' (Alvaro Hylander Remix) are both main room with Alison's pillow talk and Frank H Carter III's soulful sun worship.

Totally 'Balance' (Ezra Collins Remix) takes the pace up but our man Sumach teams up with Kanedo for a Spanish 'Sunset' bounce with those night time horns.

Balearic beats in a chill mid-winter, this will keep you warm until the Lucky Sun returns.  And if there's a new trend for 8 track remix EPs, (did you miss 'A Different Style' EP?), if they're all as good as this one, long may it continue.
